BURRILLVILLE, RI

The Town of Burrillville was established in 1730 and incorporated in 1806.

The first European settlers arrived in Burrillville in the late 17th Century. For many decades after, and throughout the 18th Century, farming was the predominant occupation of the inhabitants, who cleared most of the town's forested lands for their fields and pastures.

Burrillville's natural features, landscape, and waterways have played an important role in the town's development. During the first half of the 19th Century, the town's larger waterways -- the Chepachet, Clear, Pascoag, and Branch River systems -- were harnessed to power the textile mills which formed the nuclei for more than a dozen hamlets and villages. The textile industry remained active into the 20th Century. Gradually the mills ceased operating; many were torn down or destroyed by fire and never rebuilt.

A WORD ABOUT BILLING

Although we generally do not advertise, our firm has continued to grow each year. We believe that this confirms that we have kept our promise to deliver the highest quality legal representation and service at realistic rates. Indeed, most of our clients are referred to us by existing clients or other attorneys. A lawyer's time is his or her stock-in-trade, and our select group of clients understands that we are only able to provide the level of service we do so long as our bills are paid promptly upon receipt.

Again, we work hard to establish long-term relationships with our clients. In the event that you are unable to pay a bill from us in full, please let us know and we will work with you to set up a payment plan. We will reserve the right to charge interest of 1.0% per month on balances due or unpaid for more than 30 days from the date of invoice. We may at our discretion extend a courtesy and waive interest, so long as at least a partial payment against the account is received in a timely manner. We charge a "Communications" charge of 2% of the monthly fee to cover postage, telephone, toll charges, and telecopy/fax expenses.

We do our best not to make mistakes; but we are human. If we do make a mistake, we'll do everything in our power to make it right. And if at any time you feel that we have not kept our promise to deliver the highest quality legal representation and service at realistic rates, please bring your concerns to our attention immediately so that we may do our best to remedy the situation.
